The cover was created by Peter Ian Campbell, a photographer whose work I’ve admired for a long time. He’s known for his photography connected to Boards of Canada, one of my favorite bands, who are also releasing a new album on May 29th, which makes this feel even more connected and meaningful to me.
Honestly, I was really hesitant to reach out to him at first. I kept questioning whether someone like him would even want to work with an author who is still building visibility. Imposter syndrome definitely hit me pretty hard, and for a while I almost didn’t send the message at all. But I did reach out.
Then, almost miraculously, he emailed me back the following morning right before I went to work. From there, we started building a professional relationship and collaborating on the cover. It’s been one of those moments that really reminds me why it’s worth putting yourself out there. It also feels pretty surreal to be working with someone who has collaborated with artists tied to a band that has influenced me so much.
The book itself is easily over 200 pages and represents a big step forward for me creatively. I really wanted the cover to reflect that same scale and atmosphere, and I feel like this collaboration captures that perfectly.
